Hi, my name is Jared Pace. That's me up above. Codeword: Studios is the front for my freelance web development work. I've been building web sites and apps since 2003, with a strong emphasis in web standards an usability. To build clean, browser-friendly websites, I use a wide variety of technologies such as Ruby, Rails, PHP, Javascript, CSS, and XHTML.
I also occasionally dabble in the dark arts of web design. Although I don't consider myself to be a designer by trade, I occasionally do a decent job at it. You can take a look at my work and this site and decide for yourself. This combination of talents lets me play both sides of the field so to speak. Sadly, its rare to find a developer with an eye for design.
Too many designers and developers don't care about the code that goes into making a website. This is something I feel sets me apart from some. I am strongly opinionated (some may say too strongly) about the correct way to do things on the web. Just like contractors, engineers, and doctors have a set of guidelines in place, the web has a set of rules, often referred to as 'web standards'. Following these general rules produces websites that are light on their feet, accessible to people with handicaps, and search engine friendly.
Please, do get in touch with me if you would like to talk about how my skill set can contribute to your project.
